Firefight by Brandon Sanderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Yep, still love this book. Sanderson sure knows how to write some fun YA.
Finally time for me to pick up Calamity. I'm so behind on my new releases. I'm so excited about this one. It's going to be... EPIC.

Welcome
Welcome to my train of thought. Just a warning, there might be turbulence. I'm a little eccentric, but hopefully you'll find something here that'll make the crazy worth it. Stay tuned for book reviews, ramblings on random things, and all sorts of stuff that tickles my fancy. But keep your hands and arms inside the vehicle at all times. My brain is a scary place!

Review: Kiss of Venom
Kiss of Venom by Jennifer Estep
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I'm a little more disappointed in Owen after reading this. Mostly because he knows he's being stupid and is not stepping up and doing something about it. If he's disappointed in himself, he's being silly. Doesn't he realize that the same reason he was able to see the good in Salina (even though it totally got the better of him in her case) is the same reason he is capable of seeing the good in Gin? And since he knows Gin's sins ahead of time and still loves her, doesn't he realize that means it's not the same mistake he made with Salina?
Why are men so stupid? Some of us try to rise above (and don't always succeed), but as a man who likes men, I have to say... men are monumentally stupid sometimes. LOL

I wish this one had been a little longer. I think it could have made a really awesome creepy mystery story for Gin and friends to solve. But it was fun even this short. :)

Review: Deadly Sting
Deadly Sting by Jennifer Estep
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This one was a lot of fun. I really liked that while the supporting characters were a part of the story, we really got a ton of time just us and Gin.
I need Owen to get himself together though. :)

As always, I love Mercy and her world. This one is no exception. From tricky fae to sexy werewolves, Briggs' world never ceases to entertain.

Review: Night Shift
Night Shift by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
3.5 stars, rounded down
I really like the town of Midnight and its kooky variety of inhabitants... but I needed more from this ending. If this was really the last book in this series, then I'm sorely disappointed. If this was a middle-of-the-series book (which is what it felt like), then I am satisified with that ending... but if this is truly the last one she plans on writing for Midnight, Texas, then she should have worked harder on the ending to provide more closure. All she did was leave a bunch of unanswered questions and a really anti-climactic final few chapters, which is a shame, because these characters deserved better.
Wouldn't be surprised if it comes out that, since this is being made into a TV series, we get another book or two. If so, this I'll change my rating on this one.

Review: Widow’s Web
Widow’s Web by Jennifer Estep
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This one was really good, but really heartbreaking as well.
For Gin, this one had some much more personal stakes than even her fight with Mab.
For the supporting cast, there was some history that never healed and the bandaid was ripped off.
I even pity Salina DuBois, the villain... "Like it or not, sometimes people just get broken, and nothing and nobody will make them whole again."
This series is getting harder and harder not to break schedule and binge!

Yep, still loved it. Are you stunned? It's clear I love pretty much anything Briggs writes. But this series especially, because I love the bond between Charles and Anna.

Review: Haunted
Haunted by Kelley Armstrong
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This one was tough for me, and I'm not sure why. I don't dislike Eve. I don't dislike Kristof. I really liked the concept and execution of the Nix... but this book just felt all over the place, and honestly, it was hard to believe that the "bad Kristof" and the "dark witch Eve" were so completely good guys in the afterlife.
Not sure what to say. Since I kinda liked it, I'll give it three stars. It was average at best, especially compared to the first four in the series. Excited to read another Elena book coming up as the next in the series!

Review: Steelheart
Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was supposed to be a reread along with my Lobster, as I bought him the trilogy in physical form at his request back in February. And he's yet to start it, and I want to read Calamity and stop waiting, so here we are. His loss. :P (well, mine too, I guess, as I paid for three physical books that I already had Kindle editions of and am out that money! at least they look nice on my shelf :D )
----
Rereading the first two to refresh for a Calamity first time read.
Also, got copies for my Lobster, so he's going to read too. So I'll be reading this one at his pace. :)

Review: Spider's Revenge
Spider's Revenge by Jennifer Estep
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Man, I'd hate to get on the Spider's bad side!
Mab's obsession with that prophecy kind of made it self-fulfilling, and I'm completely okay with that. Looking forward to seeing where the story goes now. It's like Supernatural... the main storyline was over five seasons in, but it's still going strong. Can't wait to see Gin helping people for a living. I love the great characters! :)

Fun to see things from Mab's point of view. Also fun to know that she's destined to fail at the hands of our feisty kickass heroine.

Review: The Fireman
The Fireman by Joe Hill
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
4.75 stars
This book was one hell of a ride, a slow burn, definitely sparked by inspiration, a hot read... okay, enough fire/heat puns.
I couldn't put this down. My trip got in the way a bit, but once it was winding down, and I really got started on this one, I tore through it like a wildfire (oops, puns weren't finished yet!!!).
Honestly, I love Hill's work anyways, but this was absolutely one of his best. It lost a quarter star for one thing that disappointed me about the ending.
(speaking of, make sure you read the acknowledgments and stuff afterwards, as there is a little coda hidden in there with a few more paragraphs of story!)
