Chapelwood by Cherie Priest
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I loved this book. Just like book one, it was deliciously fun and chock full of creepy weirdness. But it lost a star at the end. One final event just really made the ending less fulfilling for me. You'll know when you read it. Just felt kind of out of the blue and unfair to the reader.
Maybe we'll get some more though, since this book was supposed to be the last but ended just open enough for potential future entries.

Welcome
Welcome to my train of thought. Just a warning, there might be turbulence. I'm a little eccentric, but hopefully you'll find something here that'll make the crazy worth it. Stay tuned for book reviews, ramblings on random things, and all sorts of stuff that tickles my fancy. But keep your hands and arms inside the vehicle at all times. My brain is a scary place!

Review: Black Widow
Black Widow by Jennifer Estep
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was an awesome entry into the series!!! I saw one thing coming about in the long term that came to fruition at the end of this book. Totally didn't see Madeline's personal twist coming at the end though! Yikes!!
So much fun for everyone to be involved in this one though. :)

Review: Fire Touched
Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Absolutely awesome entry into the series. Lots of tricky fae events, some new characters, some development of others... finally some progress on the Mercy/pack front (just wait until you read Honey's impassioned speech at the pack meeting. EPIC)
I love Briggs' storytelling and I can't wait to see where this series and spinoff world are headed. So much to look forward to -- more Mercy (with a very intriguing synopsis and beautifully creepy cover), more Charles and Anna, and even a Tom and Moira book.
I will say that I'm a little sad about the loss incurred in this book. But the ending left an odd little hope in me about that future. :)

Review: Night Broken
Night Broken by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This one was phenomenal. It involved a supernatural creature that's not overused in urban fantasy. It adds some cool new characters to the supporting cast. It provides more backstory on Mercy's heritage. It builds on the relationships she has with the pack and Adam's family. It establishes some new points of contention for Mercy.
I love this series!

Review: Poison Promise
Poison Promise by Jennifer Estep
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Beauregard Benson was one scary dude... even with his pocket protector.
Bria was being a bit annoying in this one, and I was hoping for more of the secondary characters. Owen is starting to feel unimportant and like a prop!
Anyways, I liked that we got some backstory on one of Gin's waitresses, and Silvio was an interesting new character as well.
Here's to more Gin! *clinks glass*

Review: Dead Heat
Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book is one of Patricia Briggs' gems. It's got great character development, a really creepy villain and story line, and really shines out from among the were and fae urban fantasies that are out there.
Honestly, there's nothing quite as scary as a powerful child collecting hidden-in-plain-sight mind controlling enemy, and the fact that this one can literally paralyze you while keeping you completely alert? *shudders*

Review: The Spider
The Spider by Jennifer Estep
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
While I am not normally a fan of the flashback type book, this one was a great entry. It's not my favorite entry in the series, but it was good to see a little of young Gin and how she learned some of the lessons she needed to learn to become The Spider. I'll give it a little over 4 stars, rounded up. :)

Review: River Marked
River Marked by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Not sure why so many fans dislike this one. I mean, I understand that the absence of the secondary characters is sad, because they're so awesome... but this one has a really cool enemy, lots of Native American lore, almost-gods, and a really cool story.
Oh well, guess we're all entitled to our opinions, right? :D

Review: Calamity
Calamity by Brandon Sanderson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I wasn't overly pleased with the plot this time. Didn't feel as complete or as well structured as the last two.
But I really loved the series overall, and this was a solid entry and a decent ending.
It's a shame the stories in this world are over. I really loved the concept.

Review: Heart of Venom
Heart of Venom by Jennifer Estep
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This one was awesome. Backstory on some characters that I've wanted for a while, along with some resolution for some old threads and some new threads being woven. Overall a great addition to the series which has rapidly become one of my favorite UFs.
